IN-PERSON EVENT

Join Samir for a Local History Walk and Arsenal Stadium Tour

Monday 21 August, 10am - 1pm

Age UK Islington is teaming up with Arsenal in the Community to bring you another of their very popular history walks combined with a stadium tour.

The walk will give an insight into a history of the 'village' of Highbury and its development from Roman times to the present day. The walk finishes with a tour of Emirates Stadium and a chance to see behind the scenes.

The walk will be led by Samir Singh, Arsenal in the Community.

How to take part? There are limited spaces and booking is essential! Contact Age UK Islington to book: activities@ageukislington.org.uk.

Benefits of attending:

  • Learn about Islington history and a Football Club that has been in our borough for over 100 years.
  • Meet and share with other Islington residents interested in walks.

Other useful information

  • There are no toilets along the route until we get to Emirates Stadium.
  • There is one flight of stairs to navigate as we get to the stadium to get up to the podium level from Drayton Park.
  • There is an alternative route which we will take if there are wheelchair users in the group.

Who is leading the walk & tour?

The walk is led by Samir Singh (pictured) who set up the museum at Arsenal FC and was museum curator from 2005-2014. He still works for the Club in a community outreach role. He is a committee member of Islington Archaeology and History Society.

Who's it for?

The event is open to adults of all ages who are Islington residents, or with an Islington GP, or caring for someone who is an Islington resident.

We'd look forward to welcoming your friends. They'd need to first be registered with Age UK Islington or Islington Carers Hub - to register, contact our helpline on 020 7281 6018 / gethelp@ageukislington.org.uk or info@islingtoncarershub.org.
